Senior Paid Media Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a PPC / SEM expert to join our in-house marketing team. This position will plan, develop, and implement comprehensive paid media strategies to increase our brands’ (LivePlan, Outpost, and Business Plan Pro) visibility and recognition, and drive new user acquisition while increasing ROAS.

This is a full-time, exempt, senior position on the team — reporting to the Director of Marketing — with aggressive sales and acquisition goals. Over time, and with future success, you will have the opportunity to grow the role into a management position for this area.

About you

You are an extremely motivated individual with equal parts analytics prowess, creative thinking, clear and concise copy-writing, and a solid eye for good design and user-flow. You’re in one of the most changing, dynamic aspects of digital marketing and as such, are constantly educating yourself on new campaign types and targeting opportunities. You’re dogged about constantly putting up great numbers and coming up with fresh ideas for the next big campaign.

You are strategic, able to develop innovative solutions, take initiative, and possess a well-rounded marketing background. In current or previous roles of a similar nature, you’ve consistently proven you can meet and exceed ROI targets and are motivated by analytics and audience insights to drive engagement in key market segments.

This role requires a hands-on individual who is ready to drive sales and revenue upward. Paid acquisition is a large contributor to our sales funnels, and we’ll only be looking to you to grow, grow, grow this. You will actively manage a 6-figure plus monthly marketing budget across the following platforms: Google Ads (formerly Google Adwords), Bing Advertising, YouTube, Adroll, Facebook Ads, LinkedIn ads, etc.

Key Functional Areas of Responsibility

  • Manage Google Ads (search and display), Bing Ads, YouTube Ads (with Gmail Ads/ GSP, LinkedIn and Facebook to follow)
  • Write ad copy
  • Work with in-house designer on visual creatives
  • Create ad and landing page A/B messaging tests
  • Research and develop keyword lists and targeting opportunities
  • Build and maintain campaign structure
  • Adjust bids and execute bid strategies
  • Create dynamic reports and dashboards for internal use
  • Work with in-house CRO team on optimize landing page experience and signup flow
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across the internal marketing team and web development teams — as well as external vendors — to ensure campaigns and projects are properly executed, tracking, measured and reported
  • Manage Google Tag Manager and the myriad audience and conversion pixels
  • Maintain the highest level of knowledge and understanding of all programs’ ad ecosystem by staying informed of changes in the ad auction, ad formats, campaign objectives, and bid strategies


  • 3-7 years of hands-on experience in a data-driven role managing performance-based paid social, search, display and ABM campaigns at a direct-sales company or marketing agency
  • 10+ years of digital marketing experience
  • BA or BS in Marketing or a related discipline is preferred
  • Google Ads search certification
  • Expert understanding of Google Analytics
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel or Google Sheets
  • Excellent written and verbal skills (writing samples required)
  • Experience with off-the-shelf landing page tools such as LeadPages, Hubspot, Unbounce, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Self-motivated and a high level of integrity
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • A positive outlook and a strong desire to learn as much as you can

Nice to have

  • Experience in SaaS marketing
  • Agency or consulting experience
  • Masters degree in marketing or business
  • Prior management experience, preferably of a paid or performance-based marketing team
  • Demonstrated international SEM campaign experience
  • Additional certifications (Hubspot, Google Analytics, Google Ads Display, Google Ads Mobile, YouTube Ad, Bing Ads, etc.)
  • Experience working directly with 3rd-party retargeting vendors (e.g., Adroll, Criteo, Perfect Audience, etc.)
  • Experience working with other analytics’ and testing tools such as Hotjar,, etc.
  • Data visualization experience or BI tools such as Google Data Studio, Tableau, etc.
  • Have a working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript development and constraints
